:: Tears of the Moon ::

If my life could be a song, it'd be Plumb's Real, which starts off with "Look at me, twenty-three, beautiful sight to see tonight." Which is, incidentally, my age last year. But the lyrics still apply. Do I get life half the time? I don't. I'm just struggling to get by. In the meantime, I write, I read, I observe. This journal is what it feels like.

Wiring and twisted fingers.

Chi broke out the jewelry making kits for our movie day. Spent an entertaining afternoon making earrings. It was fun - in fact I spent the entire night putting together beads and bangles and dangly things. Little did I know that fingers have the tendency to cramp up. Apparently, fine hand tools, wiring materials and millimeter-wide beads are not hand-friendly.

Watched The Matrix again, and it's still as great as ever. Saw The Frighteners on Cinemax and amused myself with the production list: almost all major effects players of LOTR's on that movie: PJ, Fran Walsh, the guys from Weta (Grant Major, and crew) - before there was a Weta, I think.

Lol. I read somewhere that you know you're a movie geek when you actually read the production crew credentials and remember them. Or maybe I just had too much open storage in my mind.

Guh.

Week-ending was fun. Life has an amazing sense of humor sometimes. Went out post-shift with some people at the office, had a huge breakfast (which translates to my body clock's dinner), and walked back to the office. And, I had to trip, right? Not just the oops, I fumbled, giggle-giggle type, but the kind that falls into the Spectacular Sprawling Trip category. While we were crossing the street. And it's not just a normal pedestrian street. It was a major road, with cars and buses on stop. In full view of all passengers: me dropping to my knees because I didn't fall right into my right foot. The damn thing tipped over 90 degrees and the rest of my body fell with it.

Not just that, but I fell right in front of this guy they're pushing at me at work.

Right. *rolleyes*

Etc.

Dad's out of town, and he'll be away ten days. He better be back in time for my birthday.

Payroll didn't come on the 15th. It'll arrive on the 17th, due to some idiotic banking glitch from the US branch to the Manila branch of the company we're using for payroll. What a nightmare. I had to collect loan requests for agents who desperately needed their funds: moms who needed to buy milk, parents who needed to pay for electric and water bills or else they'll get cut off, parents who needed to pay for their children's tuition. I'm glad they didn't take it out on me. But wtf some bastard probably took advantage of the newly uncovered assassination plot on Gloria for the 15th and withheld money going to the Philippines.

I got to write. Again, thank goodness. Which made me think that I really ought to invest in a laptop, since I absolutely have no alone time with the family common computer. And even if I did, the computer's at the living room. I simply can't write with them there.

Can't get over this song. Very apt.

Stars (Switchfoot)

Maybe I've been the problem
Maybe I'm the one to blame
But even when I turn it off and blame myself
The outcome feels the same

I've been thinking maybe I've been partly cloudy
Maybe I'm the chance of rain
And maybe I'm overcast
And maybe all my luck's washed down the drain

I've been thinking 'bout everyone,
Everyone you looks so lonely
But when I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars, I see someone else
When I look at the stars
The stars, I feel like myself

Stars looking at a planet
Watching entropy and pain
And maybe to start to wonder
How the chaos in our lives could pass as sane

I've been thinking 'bout the meaning of resistance
Of a hope beyond my own
And suddenly the infinite and penitent
Begin to look like home

I've been thinking about everyone
Everyone you looks so empty
But when I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars, I see someone else
When I look at the stars
The stars, I feel like myself.
Yeah!

Everyone, Everyone feels so lonely
Everyone, yeah everyone feels so empty
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars, I feel like myself
When I look at the stars
The stars, I see someone...

Gotta go get me some coffee.

Woke up to the sound of Miriam Santiago in full rampage. Literally the last ten minutes of my sleep was spent hearing Miriam Santiago's voice on the podium in virago mode since the parents were watching her go at it at a Senate privelege (sp?) speech. Let me tell you: NOT a good way to start my day. Not with the screaming banshee triggering weird images in my brain right before I woke up.

Bryan's Birthday!
Bryan turned seventeen last weekend. Happy birthday, little boy! Mmwah!

New discovery!
Also discovered something new while walking around the grocery section of Rustan's grocery:

Ben and Jerry's Cherry Ice Cream!

Yes, it's hella expensive, but totally worth it. They combined two of my top favorite flavors: Cherry and Chocolate. Truly worth it.

Fiesta!
Celebrated the community fiesta over the weekend (which always coincides with my brother's birthday. Also the reason why he always gets asked why he isn't either Francis or Gabriel. Francis because it's St Francis' anniversary, or Gabriel because the 1st is the feast of the guardian angels. But we wanted Bryan) Got to eat lots of good food, saw neighbors old and new. Also somewhat saddening because most of the girls in my age group are either married with children, married, or single parenting. Which left me and Chi somewhat weirdly isolated and hung out instead amongst the generation right after us, or the parents. We don't really mind: what can you talk about in a table full of young parents? Diapers and the rising cost of milk? And what to answer to the question, how was your weekend, Kitt? will always lead to me or Chi talking about the latest movie, bar, band that we've seen/gone to. Something that the new parents will more likely not relate to anymore.

In any case, also hung out with Tina, one of the Charmed sisters. The geekiest of the bunch, and found out that -gasp!- none of her sisters, female cousins or relatives wanted to watch Corpse Bride. So we made arrangements to watch next Saturday. Would've brought Bryan along too, except he had an exam for La Salle.
