If my life could be a song, it'd be Plumb's Real, which starts off with "Look at me, twenty-three, beautiful sight to see tonight." Which is, incidentally, my age last year. But the lyrics still apply. Do I get life half the time? I don't. I'm just struggling to get by. In the meantime, I write, I read, I observe. This journal is what it feels like.
Chi and I went apartment hunting yesterday. The verdict:
We want this one apartment place, but it's two promotions away (for me and Chi) from being affordable. But, damn that place was great: floor to ceiling windows, and walking distance to my office. Free use of the pool, jacuzzi, gym, the 8th floor lounge area (for entertaining). There was even a nook in the apartment that made us feel like Will and Grace's TV corner in their apartment.
We'll be happy to settle for this quaint ten-story apartment building. It's five years old, but well maintained. Walking through the hallways, Chi and I could already hear the strains to the Friends soundtrack. Thing about this is, there's a ten minute walk through a somewhat sort-of dodgy rest of the street. I work at night, therefore my day starts at night, and Chi ends her day at night. Both of us needs to walk to get to the place, and it's a little dangerous.
We are Determined to live in Makati.
Twas a very good day, although very tiring for me (I slept at the office - I know, I know. Workaholic). Pushed a long shift, and it was way past my bedtime Saturday morning. At the end, I was really dizzy with the heat, exhaustion, and probably hunger.
It was also a good day for me and Chi. Nothing like a sister-bonding-thing day, you know?

On the edge of Almost. It's both uncomfortable and unsettling.
But overall, am relieved.
I am alive, after all.
And, possibly desirable.

Elements of the bill include preference in education for two-child families, free access to abortifacients, and mandatory sex education for children as young as 10 years old.
Under the bill, employers -- including the Catholic Church -- would be obligated to provide free "reproductive health care services and devices to the workers."
The bill defines "reproductive health care" as "availability and access to a full range of methods, techniques and services that contribute to reproductive and sexual health and well-being." This includes "family-planning information, condom and abortifacient birth prevention." Voluntary sterilization is also included.
The penalties for not participating in the proposed reproductive health program include imprisonment for up to six months.
Catholic health-care professionals who object to sterilization and contraception will be obligated to make a referral and not have the freedom to practice medicine according to their beliefs.
Catholic educators who will not share the mandated reproductive health curriculum will be imprisoned or fined up to 20,000 pesos ($382). Parents who object to their children receiving abortifacient health services will also pay the same penalty.
The bill is now in it's second reading.
